Akhanda Yoga

Akhanda yoga is a holistic teaching approach. Akhanda means whole, full, infinite, indivisible, or oneness. It emphasizes a balanced practice of asana (postures), Pranayama (breathwork), relaxation, mantra, meditation, and kriya (purification).

Asana  is  the practice of yoga postures in a balanced sequence involving moving the spine in all directions, and utilizes all stations such as sitting, crouching, standing, and laying down. Pranayama, or breath work, helps regulate the breath and emotions preparing you for meditation, or helping you maintain steady breathing during asana.  Mantra means liberation of the mind. It helps calm the mind and releases us from patterns we form mentally. Meditation is a deep state of concentration, which slows the breath, heart rate, and brain activity which reduces stress, improves anxiety, and aids in the treatment of depression. All in all, yoga can have a major impact on your life whether you choose to practice just the physical aspect, mental aspect, or dive in and enjoy the whole lifestyle.
